Moving Locally In Denver
When I was 22 years old, I decided it was time to move out of my parent’s house and live on my own for the first time. It was a new experience for me, but I was excited to start my own life.
Why Do People Move Locally?
Many reasons I decided to leave home for the first time at 22 years old. I wanted to be my own person, make my own decisions, and live life on my own terms. I was also excited to start a new chapter in my life and experience all that independence had to offer. Living on my own would allow me to learn more about myself and grow as a person. Finally, I knew this was an essential step in my journey to becoming a successful adult.
Weighing Out All My Options
The decision to move out of my parent’s house was not an easy one. I had to consider many things, such as whether I could afford it, if I were truly ready for this step, and what implications it would have on my relationship with my family. Ultimately, I concluded that the pros outweighed the cons and that moving out was right for me.
An Apartment Shared Is A Rent Halved
I did not have to face the prospect of moving away from home for the first time by myself. One of my closest friends had been considering moving out as well, so I was able to move in with her and split the costs. This was an excellent solution for me, as it allowed me to stay close to my family while also getting to experience living on my own.
I was also able to find a job relatively quickly. I had worked part-time throughout my years in high school and college, so I already had some experience in the workforce. Additionally, many of my friends had already started working full-time, so they were able to give me some advice on the job market and help me connect with potential employers.
Why Should I Move My Furniture
My friend and I found an apartment about 15 miles across town. This would make it difficult for me to try and transport all my stuff there by myself. The apartment is lovely, but it’s not feasible for me to move everything by myself.
Items Worth Moving
I had a few pieces of furniture that weren’t cheap and also held sentimental value. So I didn’t want to throw them away like flatpack furniture simply. I wanted to take them with me. But it was challenging to find a way to do that because they were too big and bulky.
Valuable Heirlooms Deserve Some TLC
My grandmother’s sewing machine table is my favorite piece of furniture. It’s an old wooden table with a Singer sewing machine. My grandmother used to sew all our clothes when I was a kid, and I loved watching her work. The sewing machine table was always in the living room, and I would watch TV while she worked on her projects. When my grandmother passed away, my parents renovated the sewing machine table into a desk. It’s a beautiful piece of furniture that holds a lot of sentimental value for me.
Looking For Local Movers In Denver
Friends and Family
I thought of a few different ways to get my items across town. I could ask friends, but they’re all busy. I could drive my own car back and forth, but that would take a lot of time and cost a ton of gas. I could also hire a moving company, but that would be expensive, or so I was told.
Movers In The Classified Ads
I decided to open up an ad on Craigslist looking for local movers. I was then flooded with messages from all different types of people offering their services. Some claimed to be professional movers, while others were just people looking for some extra money. I had to go through all of the messages and sort through them to try and find the right people for the job.
Many of the people reaching out to me were overbearing and would message me multiple times in a single hour, trying to convince me to use their services. I had to be very careful about who I chose, as I didn’t want to get scammed or ripped off.
I’ve heard about people who have been scammed by movers on classified ads before. They’ll post a moving ad, and when someone responds, they’ll request a large deposit upfront, often more than half of the overall cost of the move. Then they’ll disappear with the victim’s money. Be careful when responding to moving ads, and always do your research beforehand to make sure you’re working with reputable people.
What To Do When Looking For Movers
My parents had used movers before, and they were able to part some words of wisdom regarding what to look for:
Be Wary Of Companies That Demand A Large Deposit Upfront
When you’re moving, working with a reputable and reliable moving company is essential. Unfortunately, some companies are attempting to take advantage of people by demanding a large deposit before they even start working.
Do Your Research Before Hiring A Company.
Check online reviews and ask around for referrals from friends or family. These companies are best avoided. If you’re moving and come across one of these companies, be sure to do your research first and find a company that has a good reputation. Don’t let yourself be scammed by these shady businesses!
Get Everything In Writing
Including an estimate of the general cost of the move. This is good advice – it’s essential to get moving estimates in writing before committing to a project so that everyone understands what’s involved and what the deadlines are. This way, there won’t be any surprises down the road.
It’s also paramount to make sure that you understand the estimate and what it includes. Make sure to ask questions if anything is unclear. And, be sure to acquire a few different estimates before making a final decision – this will give you a clearer perception of what’s reasonable to expect in terms of price and timeline.
Make Sure The Company Is Completely Licensed, Insured, And Experienced
When it comes to hiring a moving company, you should only go with a mover that is licensed and insured. This protects you in the rare event something goes awry during the move. You could be liable for any damages if the mover is not authorized or certified.
It is also quite imperative for you to make certain the moving company you hire is experienced. You don’t want to use a company that is new to the business and doesn’t have a lot of experience. This could lead to problems with the move, such as delays or damaged belongings. Instead, choose a company that has been in business for several years.
Be Present When The Movers Arrive To Load Your Belongings
When arranging for movers to come to your home, it is essential to be there to witness the loading and unloading of your belongings. This way, you can ensure that nothing is damaged in transit. If you cannot be there yourself, have a friend or family member keep an eye on things for you.
Pack Up Your Things
It is also just as essential that you ensure that you have all your belongings packed and good to go before the moving team arrive. This will help avoid any last-minute scrambling and make the move go more smoothly. Once everything is loaded onto the truck, be sure to double-check that nothing has been left behind. Once the truck arrives, you can relax and start settling into your new home.
If you follow these tips, you can avoid being scammed by a moving company. But if you do find yourself in this situation, don’t hesitate to contact the Better Business Bureau or your local law enforcement agency.
Denver Moving Group – Servicing Local Denver Moves
I called a local mover Denver Moving Group after reading some decent reviews about them. I also had a family member who used them in the past. Hopefully, I’m not alone when I say that a referral from a family member lends a lot more credibility to a company than even the best online review.
Professional Courtesy, Family Care
When I contacted Denver Moving Group, the person who answered was amiable and helpful. They walked me through the whole moving process and what to expect and gave some tips on making my move go more smoothly. After getting my quote, which was much lower than I expected, I decided to use their services. I had paid a deposit to reserve the move date, and that was all that was needed until the point of delivery when the balance would be due. I was glad to have everything taken care of ahead of time and not have to worry about it on the day of the move.
How Local Move Estimates Work
The estimate I received said that the cost of the move would be structured on a per-hour basis. This is how local moves are usually priced. I’m not sure if there are other pricing methods for local moves, but this is the most common one. Basically, you will only pay for the amount of time the local movers take to move your items and nothing more, even if you were quoted for more hours than used. I found this flexibility quite refreshing since I knew I didn’t have that many things to move.
Moving Day With DMG
On the big day of the move, the movers turned up on time and got right to work. The guys were all wearing branded clothing and seemed to know what they were doing. This was in stark contrast to the day laborers I’ve seen hired for other moves. These laborers often seem unorganized and lack any sense of teamwork.
They were very careful handling all of my stuff, including the sewing machine, and wrapped everything up nicely. The process took approximately three hours, which was great since I expected it to take longer. Ultimately, I only ended up paying for the three hours of service and nothing more.
Excellent Work, Stress-Free Moving
I really could not have asked for any better first-time moving experiences than this. The team at Denver Moving Group was so helpful and professional, and made the move as smooth as possible. My parents were delighted that everything went well and they even called the company to offer their thanks!
I would highly recommend DMG to anyone looking for a local moving company. Thank you again for making my move so easy!
